CHINA - LI JIANG (GUILIN CRUISING RIVER) |
|
|
Cruising on the Lijiang river is a true enchantment. Along banks, are held landscape sites on 83 km between Guilin and Yangshuo.
Located in Guangxi, frontier province of Vietnam, the town of Guilin is on Western bank of Li Jiang. This peaceful river, on which some fishermen, perched on rafts in bamboo, still practise fishing with the cormorant, crosses a karstic site of any beauty.
The calcareous, old plate some 300 million years, was with the wire of the millenia carved by wind and rain erosion. While streaming on the rock or while infiltrating in cracks, the water fallen on the surface from the ground dissolves little by little limestone. While in basement, develop underground galleries and caves, outside, rise rock reliefs precipice, sometimes stripped, sometimes green, called karsts or sugar loafs.
Thus are profiled, with the turning of the meanders of Li Jiang, of innumerable karsts with turrets at the round or notched top, covered with a fine green vegetation.
