Cancun is located beside Caribbean Sea (north-east of the Yucatan Peninsula). The tourist town is located on a peninsula formed a long strip of land of about 400 meters wide and 21 km long. Between the continent and the peninsula, there is the lagoon. On the other side there are almost all along 21 km of white sandy beach with a sea turquoise blue .
This whole area is occupied by tourists. It's simple, there is the road that is also all along, and all along have been hotels, bars, nightclubs… finally everything to ensure that tourists do not bored. By contrast the only Mexicans you see here are the servers, hotel staff, maintenance etc. Mexicans… live farther.
For those who like the big resorts, then they will have paradise. For the others, you will not be that way. Cancun is mainly populated by American (one day it will be a new state of the US)
Me for example I stayed for one day, one night… just to go in nightclub. The beach is beautiful, but marred by all the hotels near. And go to the beach you are virtually compelled to take a room in a hotel, because if there is no access by road… it seems to me (I am very on) have seen a small, very small passage between two hotels… But if there were good, now they can be placed a new hotel or another.
