Bordered in north by the Republic of Mongolia and Russia, the Inner Mongolia, which stretches itself on 2400 km of is in west and 1700 km of north in the south, is, by its surface, the third province of the People's Republic of China with 1.1 million km ² (Xinjiang 1.650 m km ² - Tibet 1.100 m km ²).

Hohhot, the administrative capital of the area, is with only 800.000 hb, the second town of Inner Mongolia. It is preceded by Baotou, center industrial of the autonomous Area, with 1.150.000 hb.
